MY FTMO JOURNEY · DAY 2

Day 2 — When Emotion Meets Execution

A personal reflection on waiting through adverse price movement, managing emotion and protecting the next decision.

Personal reflection on further losses · Later account snapshot

Understanding the Mathematics Is One Thing. Experiencing a Trade Is Another.

One of the most important lessons I am learning is that trading is not simply about predicting whether the market will move up or down. Probability matters, but so does the relationship between actual winning and losing outcomes.

Before entry, the numbers may be clear. Once a position is open and moves against me, the emotional experience becomes real.

When the Market Moves Against Me

I can mentally prepare before a trade, define my risk and accept the possibility of a loss. Yet waiting while the market moves against the position can still be uncomfortable. Preparation does not remove emotion from live execution.

The discomfort itself does not establish whether the trade is right or wrong. The greater risk is allowing that feeling to override the planned decisions or distort how I evaluate the next opportunity.

The Waiting Process

When no position is open, I am evaluating possibilities. With a position open, the outcome becomes personal. Each movement can attract more attention, and a difficult trade can affect my confidence in the following setup.

I want to learn to recognize that reaction without using it as a substitute for the trading plan. Emotional discipline is not the absence of feeling; it is the ability to keep decisions grounded in established rules despite the feeling.

The Additional Account Losses

  • Original account size: $10,000.00
  • Initial recorded cumulative result: −$400.36
  • Later reported balance, before a further trade: $9,391.10
  • Later cumulative result relative to the original $10,000: −$608.90 (−6.09%)

The change between these two cumulative snapshots is −$208.54, but the available records do not establish that the entire difference occurred on one day. This entry therefore does not assign an unverified daily loss or trade count.

Trading as a Business

Trading as a business means reviewing financial and operational results separately. A profitable trade can still break a rule; a losing trade can still be properly executed. Both deserve an honest review.

The personal monthly objective remains 3%. It is not a target that justifies forcing trades, increasing risk or trying to recover losses on a deadline.

My Reflection

What matters is not eliminating the uncomfortable feeling when the market moves against me. I need to work through it without letting it determine the fate of this trade or prejudice my assessment of the next one.

That separation between emotion and process is a lesson I want to document as this FTMO journey continues.
